Fertility rate dropped by half in a century


The Lancet released a global breeding survey between 1950 and 2017. According to their survey, the human environment is much smaller than ever before.

Around 1950, women gave birth to an average of 4.7 babies each during their lifetime. Last year, only 2.4 babies were born.

Christopher Murray told the BBC that the scarcity of children in today’s society and the increase in the number of people over the age of 65 could have an impact on future societies.
